People that live in the Eastern Sierra, and especially the more than 7,000 in Mammoth Lakes are a unique breed. In order to survive an average of 400 inches of snow each year, they have to be. People come here to explore and relish the great outdoors, including its wildlife. Many also come to this remote region to leave behind the confines of city living and spread their wings in wide open spaces.

Hardcore rock climbers, skiers, snowboarders, mountain bikers, and many more have a soft spot for the wildlife and are extremely respectful of the animals that surround them. So much so that often, people turn the other cheek even when the wildlife damages their property or perhaps kills a pet, realizing that these wild animals were here first, so as humans we have to learn to live around them.
